Does this tie into what my child is learning at school?
Yes — it's curriculum-linked across all four UK nations, touching PSHE, Science, and English/Literacy, so it fits naturally alongside what they're already learning, not extra homework on top.
Is it actually vet approved?
Genuinely vet-approved — every lesson has been checked for accuracy by a qualified vet, and I'm a canine first aid instructor myself with 15 years in the industry, so nothing in here is guesswork.
Will this be too scary or upsetting for my child?
No — nothing in the book shows a dog in distress or graphic injury. Aidie and Remi learn everything from Kai, a friendly vet character, in a calm, story-led way. It's built to build confidence, not fear, and ends with your child making their own Dog Hero Promise.

The book is designed for ages 5–11, with Aidie and Remi guiding your child through each lesson in a way that's simple enough for younger readers but still holds interest for older ones. Younger children may enjoy having the stories read to them first, then working through the practical bits together.

Who is behind this - is it a big publisher or something more personal?
Independently written and published by me, a qualified canine first aid instructor with 15 years across dog nutrition, raw dog food manufacture, retail, and first aid training — this is the world's first children's dog first aid book, and every page reflects real experience, not a corporate product.
Is this a gift-appropriate book, or does it look too "educational"?
Full colour, 48 pages, with proper illustration throughout by Fiona Barden — it reads and feels like a proper storybook first, with the learning woven in rather than presented as a workbook or textbook. It wraps and gifts well for birthdays, and works nicely alongside a real first aid kit as a themed gift.
Will my child be able to actually use this in a real situation, or is it just theory?
